Our back deck needs help, bad. It's a complete eyesore and I can't wait for the day where we can afford to replace it. But it is huge and safe, so we get a lot of use out of it even if it's ugly. In a desperate attempt to pretty it up, I planted a couple pots full of vibrant flowers awhile back and they are still doing great:
I got the pots months ago on clearance at Target. The big one is HUGE. I used my go-to flowers for an easy, low maintenance look: Petunias, sweet potato vines, coleus, snap dragons, and I can't remember the names of the pink flower in the center. The light is actually a hanging light I got at a garage sale for around $7. It's over a foot tall and glows at night. It's the perfect amount of light for drinks on the deck. There's not much I can do to make the deck likable, but the planters do help a little. And, we can see the planters through the doors in our dining room, so they fill a much needed space with color. Fall is almost here and I can't wait to plant some pots full of mums for the deck and our front porch. What are your go to plants? Anyone plant specifically for Autumn? I love this weather and mums seem to last long after everything has died- so I welcome the bright splash of color they add to this time of year.
