Not pretty. Our whole room was painted a really bad yellow when we bought the house. When we painted the room light gray, B gave the door a quick brushing of primer and well, we left it. Yep, it's been like that a solid 6 months. The front door wasn't too bad, it just had some chipping paint around the frame.
While B was busy painting doors, I did my own update. T was asleep for the night, so we were able to divide and conquer. If you hadn't noticed, all our door handles looked liked this:
Now, I love me some brass, but not on a cheap door handle. Since we were painting the doors, we decided to paint the handles too. After we removed the handles, I lightly sanded them to remove any old paint and propped them up on some floral oasis. I find this to be the easiest way to paint a door handle, since you can spray all angles and you don't have to worry about smudging when you set it down to dry,
Then, since it was really late and I couldn't spray outside, I placed the handles in a cardboard box so I could paint in our basement.
I used Rustoleum's Metallic Carbon Mist, since I already had a can and I didn't want to spend any money on this project. This is after the first coat:
I ended up spraying them with three light coats and let them fully cure for two days. They turned out great and look a hell of a lot better than the brass. After everything was dry, we put the handles on and enjoyed our new view from our bed:

I'm so happy we finally got around to this. All the doors look better with a fresh coat of paint and 'new' handles. Now we are trying to find a runner to spruce up the hallway and a door to our linen closet. You can't really see it, but it's to the right of the bathroom door. This tiny space needs all the help it can get. What about you? Any weekend updates?
