Sunday's Estate Sales

After my friend Sarah raved about an estate sale in New Lenox, I knew I had to check it out. B had an incredibly difficult and busy work week and Sunday was his only day off, so I left our Sunday plans up to him. Lucky me because he wanted to go to the New Lenox sale and Ikea. He hasn't been to a sale in forever and was jonesing to go. I was a happy wife. Sunday was the last day of a two weekend, seven day sale, and the house was still packed! Rows upon rows of teacups and plates, Royal Dalton cups (those things FREAK me out), and not one, but TWO garages. This place was a mess. Just what I like to see. As much as I love me some teacups, I left with only these three pictures in tow. Oh, and B got a tile cutter.

The colors are spectacular. The brown paper they are painted on adds some texture and an older feel. Just look at how vibrant they are close up:

Am I the only one who has a thing for crazy bird prints? I think they are fantastic! Leave a comment if interested in purchasing!

On another note, I spilled coffee ALL OVER my living room rug this morning. Go me. Which brought two things to my attention. 1. I really need a new rug. This one is so stained and groudy. It's beyond repair and I never really liked it to begin with. It's too...well, beige. I have a few options in mind, but we have pets. And a toddler. I am nervous to put any money into something that I will probably spill coffee on again. 2. I need a new stain cleaner/lifter for carpets. I have Woolite and it's not doing it. Any suggestions? What do you use? Please tell me some cleaning secret where all my carpet stains will magically lift away.

Psst...my friend and neighbor is selling some artwork too! Check out her postings here, here, and here.

  1. Hey Sarah. I'm interested in the second two if they're still available.

    2. Great! Also microfiber cloths can be better than a regular cloth at getting stains out. I spilled a chocolate shake on my carpet and I used this bathroom cleaner Clorox brand with bleach. I also have a beige carpet and it came out. It didn't bleach it though for some reason so that's good I guess

  2. Oxiclean makes a spray which often works on carpet stains...get to that coffee right away, that is the worst for carpets/rugs. My dad loved Spot Shot and I like that one a lot, too (works really well on car upholstery/carpets too!). Love reading every day :)

    1. Thanks! I did get most of the coffee out right away, and luckily it kinda blends into the carpet! I think I am going to pick some Oxiclean up today!
